Celestial Navigation

There is an opportunity to obtain the CPS Celestial Navigation (CN) course within the OAKVILLE  Squadron.   The 2007 classes will start on September 20.

Prerequisites are Advanced Piloting, access to a reliable marine sextant, and a serious commitment to complete the course. Other students with a strong navigational background may be considered for registration on approval of the instructor. Oakville Squadron does have a couple of "loaner" sextants and there are periodically some used ones available on the Niagara District "Buy - Sell - Trade web page

It is suggested that one not purchase a sextant until after meeting with the instructor.
Besides the textbook work, there is also practical "hands on" work in that a series  of specific Sights needed during  the course of the first couple of months.
